## How to Swap Shifts

This guide explains how to temporarily swap shifts on the live schedule, make permanent changes within the draft rota, and publish those updates so they are reflected across your service.

#### Introduction

The **Shift Swap** feature allows you to quickly exchange shifts between staff members. You can perform temporary swaps in the **Live Rota** to respond to immediate staffing needs, or make permanent changes in the **Draft Rota** before publishing them.

In this guide, you'll learn how to:

- Swap shifts within the Live Rota.
- Identify when a shift has been successfully swapped.
- Make permanent shift swaps in the Draft Rota.
- Review the updated shift details.
- Publish your rota changes to make them live.

#### Open the Live Rota.

#### Select and hold the shift you want to move.

#### Drag the shift on top of the one you want to swap it with.

#### This icon indicates the shifts have been swapped.

#### Switch to the Draft Rota to make the change permanent.

#### Repeat the process by dragging a shift onto the one you want to swap it with.

#### Review the details of the swapped shift.

#### Select *Publish to Plan* to make the rota changes live.

#### Top tip

Swapping shifts in the Live Rota is temporary and intended for immediate operational changes. To make the swap permanent, repeat the process in the Draft Rota and publish your changes.
