Changing the Browser that Care Control use

This guide will cover how to change the default browser used when links are opened within Care Control Windows. By default, this is set to use Internet Explorer (as this is available on all Windows systems). However, Microsoft have now ended their development of Internet Explorer in favour of their newest browser, Microsoft Edge.

1

In the Administration of Care Control Windows, navigate to the System Settings, which can be found under the Advanced Stuff tab.

2

A new window will open. Select ‘This Device’ from the left-hand menu.

Here, find the setting called ‘Doc Library Internet Path’. This will likely be set as ‘[Default]’. To change this, first untick the Use Default box to the right of the setting.

You can then paste in the application path for the browser you wish to use. Below are the paths for Edge and Chrome browsers. Simple copy the text and paste it into the text box of the setting:

Edge: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe

Chrome: C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe

Alternatively, you can find the application path manually by pressing the green button.

3

A File Explorer window will open. This is where you can find the browser path which you use.  They are commonly found within the Program File (x86) folders in the C: drive of the device.

After finding the .exe file for the browser, select it and press Open.

After making any changes within Care Control, press Save Changes.
