Adding Homely Remedies to eMAR – Care Control Learning Hub

Adding Homely Remedies to eMAR

This guide will cover how to create Homely Remedy medication on your eMAR system. Homely Remedies are things that can be given to service users and staff on an ad hoc basis. This could include things like paracetamol, eye drops or even hot lemon and honey tea! It allows the recording of medicine administration without the medicine being scheduled.

Note: homely remedies are created using existing medication profiles on your system, to create a homely remedy which is not already a medication you must first add a new medication.

1

After signing into eMAR, select Record Information from the 5 home page options.

2

Under Common Options, select Homely Remedies.

3

This will open a database containing all the homely remedies currently available on your eMAR system. Here you can add new homely remedies by pressing Add Medication.

You can also view, amend and update stock to existing entries.

4

A blank form will be displayed. Begin by searching for the medication in the search bar at the top of the screen. After selecting a medication, enter the minimum and maximum dosage, as well as the current stock levels available.

Next, decide whether this homely remedy can be given with other medication at the same time (multi-dispense) and whether this homely remedy requires two staff members to sign off the administration (second signature).

Finally, enter some information about the homely remedy in the free text entry box. You can also add a photo by tapping on the camera icon if desired.

Press Save Details.
