Administering Medication on eMAR

This guide will cover how to administer scheduled medication to service users on Care Control eMAR.

After signing into Care Control eMAR (and selecting a drug trolley if set up), press the green Sign In to Administer button to begin administering.

This button should now be red.

On the right-hand side of the screen is a list of the Outstanding Administration Tasks. This is where the scheduled medication will show when it is due to be given.

Select one from the list.

A new window will open, showing all the medication due for the selected service user. You can filter these by scheduled, PRN and homely remedy medications. You can also view information about the active prescriptions.

 

Press Dispense Medicine to begin the administration process.

The medication will be cleared from the list.

Next, press the red button in the bottom-right of the screen labelled X Items ready to Administer, Touch Here to Continue.

A new window will open. The list of medication being administered will be displayed. Next, press the red button labelled Touch Here to Continue.

A new window will open. Once again, the list of medications being administered will be displayed. For each, select a response from the drop-down list, or choose a response for all medication using the drop-down list at the top of the window.

 

This window contains further options:

  • Add Fluid Intake – press to input a fluid amount to contribute to fluid monitoring for the service user.

 

  • View Handover Notes – press to view handover notes associated with the service user.

 

  • Postpone Medication – press to postpone the administering for this service user.

 

  • Attach Care Plan Note – press to input a note associated with the administration which will show on the service user’s Care Plan.

 

After completing this section, press the red button labelled Touch To Save Responses. This will complete the administration process for this service user.
