Building a Complex Medication Schedule – Care Control Learning Hub

Building a Complex Medication Schedule

This guide will cover how to build medication schedules with variation in doses and days for a prescription. This is a follow up to our guide on creating new prescriptions on the Care Control eMAR application.

1

When creating a new prescription select the Build schedule button, which can be found under the Administration Schedule section of the form.

2

This will open a new window. Here you can enter information about the time and dosage of the prescription.

In this first example, we can create a schedule for a medication which needs to be taken in the morning, once every 3 days. Begin by selecting the Morning administration slot and entering the dose. Next, select the Every X Days option under the recurrence settings on the right-hand side. Here you can enter the number of days this prescription should occur, in this case, every 3 days.

Press Save Details to finish building the schedule.

3

In the next example, we will create a schedule where an altered dosage will be taken each morning.

Again, begin by selecting the Morning administration slot and entering the dose. Next, select the By Weekday option under the recurrence settings on the right-hand side. Here we will select Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Press Save Details to finish building this schedule.

4

We will now create another schedule for the days where a higher dosage is required. Press New Schedule. A message will pop up stating that the new one has been created.

Press Okay. The next schedule form will show. You can navigate to the previous schedule using the blue Arrows at the bottom of the window.

5

We can now follow the steps above, but this time set the dosage differently (in this case 2) for the morning administration slot. We will again select By Weekday and now choose the days not set in the first schedule (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday).

Press Save Details.

6

After closing the schedule builder window, the administration schedule will update on the prescription creation page. In this example, we wanted alternating dosages for each day – this can be seen.

You can now continue with creating the prescription, as explained in the previous guide.
