Entering and Administering PRN Medication
This guide will cover how to set up medication prescriptions to be PRN (as required), as well as how to administer them to service users. For further information about creating prescriptions and administering medication, please refer to the dedicated guides.

After signing into Care Control eMAR, select Prescription Change from the 5 options.

Select a service user and press Continue.

A list of active prescriptions will be displayed for the selected service user. Press Add New Prescription from the toolbar at the bottom of the screen.

A blank prescription form will open. Here you can complete the medication details as well as select other prescription options.
Under the PRN (As Required) section, ensure that the checkbox is ticked, and minimum/maximum dosages have been entered.

We are now ready to administer the PRN prescription. After signing in to administer, select Administer Medication from the 5 options.

Select the service user from the list and press Continue.
Note: You can also choose to administer to staff from this screen.

Select PRN Only from the filter options. Next, press Dispense Medicine.
