Introduction
Shift Indicators in Care Control Payroll allow you to identify different types of shifts and configure how they are treated for payroll purposes.
You can create custom indicators, assign descriptions and configure company-level pay rates. Additional settings allow you to manage supplementary payments, holiday treatment and sleep shifts.
In this guide, you'll learn how to:
- Access Pay Rates and Manage Shift Indicators.
- Create a custom shift indicator.
- Add an indicator to a company-level pay rate card.
- Enter the appropriate pay rate.
- Configure Supplementary, Multi and Ignore Holidays settings.
- Identify a pay rate as a Sleep Shift.
- Save your new pay rate card.
Open Pay Rates
Navigate to Payroll and select Pay Rates to view and manage payroll rates and shift indicators.
Manage Shift Indicators
Select Manage Shift Indicators to view existing indicators or create a new one.
Enter an Indicator Code
In the Indicator field, enter a short code to identify the type of shift or payment.
Choose a code that is easy to recognise when configuring pay rates.
Enter an Indicator Description
Enter a description explaining what the indicator represents.
For example, you might create an indicator for a Christmas bonus, sleep shift or another type of payment used by your organisation.
Add the Shift Indicator
Select the Add icon to create your new shift indicator.
Once added, the indicator can be selected when configuring a pay rate card.
Close Manage Shift Indicators
Close the Shift Indicators window to return to the Pay Rates screen.
Open Company Level Settings
Select Company Level Settings to configure pay rates at company level.
This area allows you to create pay rate cards using your existing or newly created shift indicators.
Add a New Pay Rate Card
Within Pay Rate Cards, select + Add Row to create a new entry.
You can then assign an indicator, enter a rate and configure the relevant payroll settings.
Open the Indicator Dropdown
Select the Indicator dropdown within your new pay rate card.
This displays the available shift indicators, including any custom indicators you have created.
Select Your Shift Indicator
Choose the indicator you want to associate with the pay rate card.
In this example, KK - Christmas Bonus is selected. Your organisation can use whichever indicator is appropriate for the payment being configured.
Enter the Pay Rate
Enter the appropriate amount in the Rate field.
Make sure the amount matches the payment arrangements for the indicator you are configuring.
Configure the Supplementary Setting
Use the Supp. checkbox to configure the supplementary setting for the pay rate.
This setting is not available when the indicator is marked as a Sleep Shift, as Care Control automatically unticks and disables it.
Configure the Multi Setting
Use the Multi. checkbox to configure the Multi setting for the pay rate.
If you select Sleep Shift, this option will automatically be unticked and disabled.
Configure Ignore Holidays
The Ign. H checkbox stands for Ignore Holidays.
Use this option to configure the holiday-related treatment of the pay rate.
When Sleep Shift is selected, Care Control automatically ticks and disables this checkbox.
Enable Sleep Shift
Tick Sleep Shift if the indicator represents a sleep shift.
This identifies the pay rate as a Sleep Shift so that the Roster can recognise shifts using the indicator accordingly.
Review the Sleep Shift Settings
When Sleep Shift is enabled, Care Control automatically updates the related settings:
- Supp.: Unticked and disabled.
- Multi.: Unticked and disabled.
- Ign. H: Ticked and disabled.
These settings are applied automatically when the pay rate is identified as a Sleep Shift.
Save the Pay Rate Card
Once you have entered the rate and configured the relevant settings, select the Add icon to create the pay rate card.
Your new entry will be available within the company-level pay rate configuration.
Top tip
When configuring a Sleep Shift, Care Control automatically enables Ignore Holidays and disables Supplementary and Multi. Check these settings before saving your pay rate card.
